Why Was Falls Park Lit up Orange on Thursday Night?
If you were anywhere near Falls Park on Thursday night, you more than likely saw an orange glow emanating from the famous Sioux Falls landmark. Sorry, it wasn't some extraterrestrial craft attempting to get a bird's-eye view of the falls on a cold March night.
The orange hue you saw illuminating Falls Park, was actually to help draw attention to World Kidney Day. Orange is the color for the National Kidney Foundation.
According to KDLT News, in year's past, The Falls have turned purple to acknowledge Alzheimer’s disease, they've gone blue to honor the law enforcement community, and on Thursday night, they were orange to help raise awareness for another serious health concern.
According to the Kidney Foundation 1 in 9 Americans, or roughly 26 million people in the U.S., have kidney disease and the scary part, only 10% have been diagnosed.
The objective of the National Kidney Foundation is to advocate for those patients and help educate the community on the importance of knowing about good kidney health.
