Vermillion South Dakota ‘Safe Ride’ Bus Involved in Accident
Apparently, even the Safe Ride bus isn't completely safe from accidents these days. Just ask the folks down in Vermillion, South Dakota.
One of their city's Safe Ride busses was involved in a hit-and-run accident during the early morning hours of Saturday, (January 28).
Dakota News Now is reporting that a motorist struck a Vermillion, South Dakota Safe Ride bus and fled the scene without stopping.
But, as luck would have it for the Vermillion police department, the suspect involved in the accident was kind enough to leave the car's license plate behind in the process.
That certainly sure makes the investigative work easier when something like this happens, doesn't it?
Talk about the definition of having a bad day! DOH! As Homer Simpson would say.
We all know that driving South Dakota roads during a winter weather event like the one they received over the weekend in the Vermillion area can be a dicing proposition for even the most experienced driver. But having said that, it appears as if the person responsible for striking the bus, should maybe have been riding on the Safe Ride bus themselves. I'm just saying.
Hey, at least the Safe Ride bus still has its reputation of being safe, according to Dakota News Now, as no one was hurt as a result of the accident.
Charges are pending in the case, I'm sure they are!
