We got into a conversation that quickly escalated into a heated discussion on “What is the RIGHT way to slice your toast?”

I mean who doesn't love butter breakfast toast? It's the perfect vehicle for jams, jellies, peanut butter, and a variety of pork products.

Did you know that the first electric toaster was invented in 1893? Before that folks would hand slice bread and toast it over a fire with long metal forks or in a metal frame held over the flame.

So what is the right way to slice your toast? There are three top options, diagonal, horizontal, or vertical.

My pal Patty says that the only right way to cut toast is the #2 way, diagonal. “Because it is just correct. Restaurants always cut toast on the diagonal. That's the way you cut sandwiches too.”

I contend that the correct way to cut your breakfast toast horizontally. That way you have asymmetrically pleasing size for which to place your bacon or sausage on top.
