The annual Bulls & BBQ Rodeo with Raise ‘em Rank returns to the Country Apple Orchard in Harrisburg for two competitive bull-riding shows on Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th. It's a great event that showcases talented riders from across the Sioux Empire. These bull riders might even win some money if they are the best of the best.

Besides all the rodeo fun, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy at the Country Apple Orchard. This includes bouncy pillows, tree tunnel, a tire mountain, and the Optimus Combine slide. Not to mention face painting and sweet treats from Dakota Snow / Polar Bites. But the main event will be the NUTmobile from Mr. Peanut of PLANTERS®!

The NUTmobile is a great chance to meet the "Peanutters" traveling across the country, get some fun photo ops, and receive great gifts from the "Peanutters" crew!

Showtimes are different for both Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th at Country Apple Orchard. Friday's bull riding begins at 7 PM. Saturday's show will be at 6 PM.

The Remaining Drive-In Theaters In South Dakota

If you were born last century...you know, in the nineteen hundreds (ugh)...you may have spent a summer evening in the car watching movies. I don't mean on your phone, I mean at the drive-in movie theater!

If you were in Sioux Falls in the 1970s and '80s you may remember seeing Jaws and Indiana Jones at The East Park or the Starlite Drive-In. Both drive-ins opened just after World War 2.

The East Park didn't make it out of the '70s, closing in 1978. The Starlite survived long enough to see the birth of home video, closing in 1985.

FLASHBACK: Remember the East Park and Starlite Drive-in Theaters in Sioux Falls?

Drive-in movies had a bit of a resurgence during the pandemic. They were a way to go out and do something social without getting out of your car.

If you tried one during that time, or you remember the fun of a warm summer evening watching movies on that giant screen there are still places in South Dakota and around Sioux Falls you can do it.

Food Network Shows That Have Been To South Dakota

Living here in the upper Midwest we don't end up on national TV shows very often. That's probably a good thing in the long run.

But it is pretty cool when something from South Dakota is on TV. Three shows from the Food Network family of shows have showcased South Dakota restaurants.

You may remember when Guy Fieri and Diners Drive-ins and Dives was in Sioux Falls in June of 2020 to visit some of our city's unique establishments.

A few years ago the Travel Channel Show Food Paradise visited Deadwood.

If you remember the 'golden age' of Foot Network, back when Rachel Ray was the queen of the channel, she took her show $40 a Day to Rapid City in 2005.
