According to some weather forecasts, a major winter storm system is expected to bring heavy snow to parts of Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota next week.
Some models indicate that the storm could dump heavy snow in some areas, potentially causing travel disruptions and other winter weather related issues.
According to Midwest Weather's Facebook page...”There are two likely outcomes but several possible outcomes with the winter storm during the middle portions of next week.
Scenario #1 is a slower trough with a southeast track while scenario #2 is a faster, more progressive trough with a northwest track.
Either way, with an incoming arctic front there'll be enough cold air to turn the rain to snow.
There's increasing potential for heavy snowfall with both scenarios and no matter the scenario, backside snow should bring snowflakes to a large portion of the region.”
Residents in parts of Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota should monitor the latest updates from local authorities and be ready to take appropriate safety precautions if the storm materializes as predicted.
