Have You Been Slicing Your Toast All Wrong?
What is the RIGHT way to slice your toast? Have you been doing it wrong all your life?
I mean who doesn't love breakfast toast with peanut butter, jelly, or just plain butter? So how do you cut your toast?
Do you prefer your toast cut diagonally, crossways, horizontally, or are you among those that don't slice it at all? Is there a right way to slice your bread?
There are some pretty strong feelings on the topic. Here is what some folks had to say on the Food Network about how to cut toast:
"Diagonal because it tastes like nostalgia and love."
"Everything tastes better in triangles do not even try and play me"
"#1 or #3 for me, #2 is just barbaric, how absurd.”
“If you cut your toast like Number 3 then please never eat toast again."
“I don't understand why people are so against number 3! At least it's symmetric!" "Same can't be said about number 2!"
"Wait a minute. We are supposed to cut toast? I thought only restaurants did that to seem fancy."
"1 or 3, depending on what I'm having as topping."
"All the above depending on the day."
Did you know that the first electric toaster was invented in 1893? Before that folks would hand slice bread and toast it over a fire with long metal forks or in a metal frame held over the flame.
