If you've grown accustomed to mailing letters and packages via the United States Postal Service from Lewis Drug and Hy-Vee locations throughout the Sioux Empire, that is about to change.

Dakota News Now is reporting that some Lewis Drug and Hy-Vee stores in and around Sioux Falls will no longer serve as USPS retail locations, effective at the end of September.

Letters notifying the public of the change were posted at several locations, like the Sioux Falls Lewis Drug Store at 10th & Cliff on Monday, July 14.

The letter stated that as of September 30th, the store will no longer be selling postage or mailing out packages.

Once the news broke, several people took to social media to express their displeasure over the decision. The overall vibe on the social channels was UGH!!!

The consistent theme throughout the threads was the inconvenience the change would bring about, especially for senior citizens. Other concerns included longer lines and wait times at postal annex stations, and how taxing Christmas deadlines and other peak mailing times throughout the year would become.

One wonders if this change will drive even more people to begin utilizing mailing and shipping services from USPS competitors like FedEx, UPS, and others.

One thing is for certain: the frustration people have regarding the decision was definitely focused towards the postal service and not the fine, hardworking employees of the Lewis Drug and Hy-Vee Stores.

According to Dakota News Now, a representative from USPS said it was determined that nearby postal facilities are able to serve the community, hence the reason for the change.

The closures are expected to affect the Sioux Falls, Brandon, Harrisburg, and Tea locations.

People Say They Hate These 7 Things About Sioux Falls the Most

In the last few years, I've had the opportunity to live in another state after living in Sioux Falls for a decade. Then late last year I moved back to the SooFoo, and I am super happy to have returned.

Sioux Falls has just about everything I like. It's big enough to have lots of opportunities for work and recreation. But, it's also not so big that I feel lost in an urban wasteland.

Being on the western edge of the 'Midwest' and the eastern edge of the 'Western Frontier' we've got a nice balance of the individualistic pioneer spirit and a strong 'We're in this together' attitude.

But, of course, not everything is perfect. People have complaints. On the social network Reddit, people have even listed their complaints about Sioux Falls. Specifically, the things that hate about living here.
