Celebrating Sioux Falls But Facing the Reality of Homelessness

It's easy to celebrate all the great things happening in Sioux Falls. But it's just as important to remember the people who still need our community's support.

But even in a growing community, hundreds of people are facing homelessness every day. That's where the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House steps in.

Since opening its doors in January 2015, Bishop Dudley Hospitality House has provided a safe place for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. On any given night, more than 600 people in Sioux Falls are without permanent housing, and the shelter offers more than just a bed. Guests have access to hot meals, showers, laundry facilities, phones, computers, and, perhaps most importantly, compassionate care and respect while they work toward a more stable future.

Taste the Goodness Fundraiser: Food, Fun, Music and Hope

Helping make that mission possible is the return of Taste the Goodness, now celebrating its 12th year.

The popular fundraiser takes place Saturday, August 1, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at 212 E. 11th Street, next to Kirby Dog Park in downtown Sioux Falls.

Guests can enjoy unlimited food tastings from local restaurants, non-alcoholic beverages, live music, games, activities, and a terrific selection of craft beers, wines, and bourbons. The evening also features a silent auction filled with unique items and experiences.

Tickets are $49 online ($55 at the gate), and include unlimited food and beverage tastings throughout the event.

Organizers are also looking for volunteers. Volunteers can enjoy the tasting experience as their schedule allows while helping make one of Sioux Falls' favorite summer fundraisers a success. Please note that all attendees and volunteers must be 21 years of age or older, and backpacks, baby carriers, and strollers are not permitted.
