Baskin-Robbins Is Coming Back To Sioux Falls After 37 Years

According to Dakota News Now, Baskin-Robbins is making a long-awaited return to Sioux Falls after being absent for nearly 37 years. That's right, the place that made 31 flavors famous is scooping its way back into town later this year.

For longtime Sioux Falls residents, this is a sweet blast from the past.

Here's the scoop:

Baskin-Robbins first arrived in Sioux Falls in 1975, opening inside the Empire Mall when mall food courts and shopping trips were weekend events. In 1986, the shop relocated to Kelor Plaza at 2701 West 41st Street after rising rent at the mall. Sadly, the last cone was served in 1989, leaving generations of Sioux Falls residents to reminisce about their favorite flavors while wondering if the chain would ever return.

Turns out, good things really do come to those who wait...even if it takes nearly four decades.

The new Baskin-Robbins will share space with Jimmy John's on South Minnesota Avenue. Jimmy John's is relocating to the former Caribou Coffee building, where it's adding a drive-thru, and construction is already underway. Before long, you'll be able to grab a sandwich and top it off with a scoop, or two, without having to make multiple stops.

Baskin-Robbins now operates more than 2,400 locations across the United States, with each store locally owned and operated. While the chain has grown over the years, it's still best known for its iconic lineup of flavors, frozen treats, sundaes, shakes, and ice cream cakes.

The return of Baskin-Robbins adds another familiar national brand to Sioux Falls growing dining scene, giving local families one more excuse to get out of the house on those sweltering summer nights.
