It's been in the works for nearly eight years, and now the dream has finally come to fruition.

The city's brand-new state-of-the-art skate park is officially open.

The Barb Iverson Skate Plaza is now open, and Dakota News Now reports there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony that took place on Thursday afternoon, (July 11) to help commemorate its long-awaited arrival.

The city's newest 25,000-square-foot skate park is located at Nelson Park just off East 10th Street and Cliff Avenue.

Erika Iverson, Barb Iverson's niece told Dakota News Now, "Skate culture centers on what it means to be accepting and to feel like you’re a part of something. How to be a community for folks who don’t always feel like they have one, how to practice courage and to grow into independents. I think Barb was drawn to that, I also think she helped build and support that ethos here in Sioux Falls."

The new state-of-the-art skate park will cater to riders of all ages and abilities while helping to add to the diverse experience found in Sioux Falls city parks.

The city of Sioux Falls can now boast having three skate parks, one at Drake Springs, another at Kuehn Park, and now the new Iverson Skate Plaza.

Only skateboards, inline skates, and BMX bikes are allowed inside Sioux Falls skate parks. No other wheeled devices of any kind are allowed.

According to Dakota News Now, the city of Sioux Falls is planning several other events throughout the weekend to help celebrate the opening of the Iverson Skate Plaza.

I think most of us have at least heard of the "Seven Wonders of the Modern World." We might not be able to rattle them off as easily as McDonald's value menu items, but chances are you've heard of at least some of them, right?

There's the Great Wall of ChinaChichén Itzá, a Mayan City on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. The ancient city of Petra, in Jordan. Machu Picchu in Peru. Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro. The Colosseum in Rome, and finally, the Taj Mahal in Agra, India.

Every state in the nation is known for having a series of natural wonders and signature landmarks. So, I thought I would come up with my own list of the "Seven Wonders of South Dakota."

The following is what I consider to be the signature landmarks, monuments, and natural wonders that are synonymous with the great state of South Dakota. I tried to give both sides of the state a little love while comprising this list.

You might have a few additions...
