Sioux Falls Gets New Mexican Restaurant As El Agave Opens in Casa Del Rey Space
The building that housed an iconic Sioux Falls restaurant for more than 40 years before sitting vacant for the last nine months is about to welcome a new eatery.
El Agave Mexican Restaurant has announced it is taking over the former Casa Del Rey location, with an opening date scheduled for mid-to-late October.
The new owners are members of the Leon family, who ran the El Rancho food truck in Marshall, Minnesota, for years before opening up a restaurant there.

Casa Del Rey first opened in 1980 on West Russell Street in Sioux Falls.
It closed for the first time in July of 2024 before reopening under new ownership four months later.
The new owners closed the restaurant again last December.
