Did You Know There’s A Sioux Falls Office Building With A Life Size Replica Dinosaur?
Here's something you probably don't expect to find while wandering around Sioux Falls: a Tyrannosaurus rex.
And no, I'm not talking about some guy with a snoot full, roaming Phillips Avenue in a purple Barney costume.
I'm talking about a life-size T-Rex skeleton that's hanging out right here in Sioux Falls on the campus of Lake Lorraine.

If you've ever driven around the Lake Lorraine development on the west side of town, you've probably seen the impressive Carsforsale.com corporate headquarters at 2500 South Westlake Drive. The building itself is hard to miss.
But there's something inside that you might not know about.
A dinosaur. A really, really big dinosaur.
The Carsforsale.com headquarters is home to a life-size replica of a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton. And perhaps the best part? It isn't tucked away in some obscure conference room where nobody ever goes.
It's right in the middle of the main employee workspace.
That's right. Employees at Carsforsale.com can spend their workday sitting at their desks with a giant T-Rex looking over their shoulders.
Now that sounds like something John Hammond from the motion picture Jurassic Park would have dreamed up, right?
Before you start wondering whether paleontologists made a remarkable discovery underneath Lake Lorraine, there's a little less prehistoric history involved.
The T-Rex isn't an actual fossil. It's a custom piece of office art designed to make the Carsforsale headquarters anything but an ordinary workplace.
And it certainly accomplishes that.
Carsforsale.com co-founder and CEO Sean Coffman teamed up with Lloyd Companies in 2018 to create the company's custom headquarters. The goal was to build something unique and memorable.
Mission accomplished.
The dinosaur is just one of several unusual features inside the building.
There's also a Talladega Superspeedway race car mounted on the lobby wall, an indoor slide that employees can use to travel between floors, a massive bank vault door guarding the CFO's office, and indoor golf simulators.
I've run around the Lake Lorraine campus countless times, so I'm very familiar with the outside of the Carsforsale.com building. It's a beautiful, modern, and highly distinctive-looking building that definitely stands out.
But just recently, while running by, I finally noticed the T-Rex inside. And thought, did I see that right? There's something you don't see every day inside an office building.
Carsforsale.com has also developed a reputation for creating a fun workplace culture, and the company's headquarters certainly backs that rep up.
After all, how many offices can honestly say they have a T-Rex hanging out in the middle of the workspace?
So the next time you're driving, walking, or running around Lake Lorraine, take a closer look at the Carsforsale.com headquarters.
You may not be able to walk inside and say hello to the dinosaur, but if you happen to catch a glimpse through the windows, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
