I guess people really missed the synchronized light show "Christmas at the Western Mall" last year because KSFY TV is reporting that it has already raised $2,500 in just its first week!

If you remember, officials with Make-A-Wish South Dakota decided to turn off the lights during the 2016 holiday season for a couple of reasons, donations were down, and the time and energy involved to orchestrate and put on the event.

But this year the decision was made to flip the switch and turn the lights back on, and so far the response has been strong.

The 15-minute synchronized light show, set to music, fired up on Thanksgiving Day and will run each night from 5:30 to 9:30 PM through News Year's Day.

The light show that has become a favorite holiday tradition for so many people in and around the Sioux Empire takes place in the center court area of the Western Mall and accepts free-will donations for Make-A-Wish South Dakota.

Make-A-Wish South Dakota is an organization that helps grant wishes for children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 years old at the time of referral.
