Big Changes Coming to Downtown Sioux Falls Parking
Beginning on May 1, we all need to be aware of some of the changes that are taking place regarding parking in downtown Sioux Falls.
One of those changes was actually talked about last fall and will be implemented in May. That is the enforcement of the extended vehicle ordinance. This rule requires vehicles to leave 10 feet of clearance between the back of their car and the center yellow line.

What You Need To Know About Sioux Falls Parking Changes
The ordinance only affects 142 on-street parking spaces between Ninth and 13th Streets on Phillips Avenue. This Sunday night (April 13), the city will be painting a white line along the back of the parallel parking stalls in the affected area on Phillips Avenue.
Residents are asked not to park on Phillips Avenue from 9th to 13th Street after 7 PM this Sunday night (April 13) to allow for the painting of the extended vehicle line. There will be signage on the meters as a reminder as well.
Sioux Falls Parking Regulations: Key Changes Starting May 1
The second major change to downtown parking is that you'll have to pay to park downtown on Saturdays. Parking enforcement hours will now be Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM for metered spaces. Parking in ramps and lots will remain free after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.
Thirdly, you'll now be able to pay for parking downtown by using your phone and a credit card. Each meter will have a code depending on its location. Drivers will text the one-word code to 25023 and be sent a link to a secure webpage to pay for parking using their credit card.
A $0.45 convenience fee for using this mobile option is shown during the online transaction. Drivers will still have the choice to pay for meters using coins.
