Why It’s Okay to Leave Your Christmas Lights Up in Sioux Falls

I just want to thank those homes on Western and also 57th street in Sioux Falls for still having their holiday lights up and on. When I drive past in the wee hours of the morning on my way to work, it makes me smile.

To me, there is a certain charm to seeing lights twinkling well into the year. In fact, if I could I'd leave mine on year-round, I would but the cost is prohibitive.

I know some people may view it as a sign of laziness or procrastination. (Okay, maybe there's a bit of that in my case). But there are actually several reasons why it's nice that people leave their lights up beyond the holiday season.

Firstly, seeing Christmas lights can bring a little joy to people, especially during these colder and darker winter months. The twinkling lights can add a touch of warmth and coziness to a neighborhood or city street.

Secondly, leaving Christmas lights up can be a practical decision for some people. Taking down lights and decorations can be a time-consuming and potentially dangerous task, especially if they are installed on high roofs or trees. Leaving lights up until the weather gets warmer can be a way for people to avoid these risks.

(At least, that is what Ben tells his wife anyway)

Finally, leaving up Christmas lights can be a way for people to express their individuality and creativity. Some people may choose to keep their lights up all year round as a form of artistic expression or to create a unique and memorable home or neighborhood.
