Some of the excuses for speeding include:

“I need to use the bathroom.”
“I just bought this car, I wanted to go out and see how fast it would go.”
“I'm late for a homecoming dance.”

The fastest speeding ticket ever recorded in Iowa was for a guy traveling 188 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Council Bluffs, Iowa resident James Foldenauer holds the record as the fastest convicted speeder in the state.

Police first tried to stop Foldenauer who ran through a construction zone at 89 mph in August 2009.

Foldenauer didn't stop instead he kicked things up speeding dangerously in and out of traffic on his bright orange 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa.

He outran police but wasn't counting on the Iowa State Patrol airplane in the sky.

James Foldenauer was sentenced to spend 45 days behind bars and also do 163 hours of community service.

That equals one hour for every mile over he was clocked over the speed limit.
