Vivid Northern Lights Forecast For Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota
It could be an amazing weekend to see the spectacular Northern Lights in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota.
Thanks to heightened solar activity the aurora borealis could be lighting up the night skies this weekend in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and a large portion of the United States.
NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center are saying the aurora might be visible Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
According to USA Today the spectacle would be courtesy of a series of coronal mass ejections from the sun, which are forecast to reach the Earth early this weekend and produce the geomagnetic storms that trigger auroras.
Spaceweather.com is saying that This weekend's geomagnetic storm watch has been upgraded from G2 (Moderate) to G4 (Severe). There are now at least 4 storm clouds heading our way.
The weekend weather forecast over much of Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota looks like it might be conducive for getting outdoors and seeing some amazing Aroura Borealis light shows!
