Snack Attack! Walmart Pulls Popular Product from Shelves
Thankfully this recall is not due to food-borne illness, but the danger to people with food allergies could be substantial, even life-threatening.
A limited amount of Walmart's brand of "Great Value Honey Roasted Cashews" are being recalled over a problem involving "undeclared coconut and milk". The problem apparently was discovered by a consumer who found coconut cashews in a container labeled as honey-roasted cashews.
At this point, it appears to have been a mislabeling issue and a limited amount of the product was involved. But it is unclear how many of the blue labeled 8.25 ounce cans have been recalled.
The product was sold by Walmart in 30 states and also online. Check for a "Best if used by" date on the bottom of the can of July 8, 2025GH2, or a UPC code of 078742133348.
So far no one has reported any bad reactions, but if you purchased any Great Value Honey Roasted Cashews online, and there is any doubt about your allergy situation, return them immediately for a refund or just throw them away.
If you have any questions you can call the manufacturer of the Walmart brand nuts, John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Incorporated at 1-800-874-8734, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CDT.
