Job hunting is not easy, and if you don't know where to look, it can make the process even more difficult. Wallet Hub has done a new study on the Best and Worst States for Jobs. So hopefully some of your homework has been done for you. Yes, you still have to put together resumés, contact references, and prepare for interviews, but this may give you some ideas about better job locations.

WalletHub compared all 50 states in various areas, including job opportunities, unemployment rates, industry diversity, AI risk, job security, employee benefits, work-share programs, internship availability, median incomes, monthly average starting salaries, workweek length, commuter-friendly jobs, and more.

Minnesota came in number 3 overall for a lot of good reasons. The Land of 10,000 Lakes boasts the third-highest median household income, at nearly $86,000 (adjusted for the cost of living). It also has the 11th-highest average monthly starting salary, at around $3,800.

Minnesota workers also have great benefits, and the state has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, at 3%, plus it is also a great state for working moms and dads.

South Dakota came in number one for its unemployment rate and average commute time, fourth in job opportunities, twelfth in job security, and 29th in both the median annual income and employment growth opportunity categories.
