We’ve all had at least one less-than-stellar moment behind the wheel. Maybe you tapped a curb while trying to parallel park downtown, misjudged a yellow light on Minnesota Avenue, or had a close call in a snow-slick parking lot during one of Mother Nature's classic Sioux Falls winter mood swings.

Driving mishaps happen, even to the best of us. But one Sioux Falls driver recently experienced the kind of automotive oopsie that’s a little harder to shrug off.

According to Dakota News Now, a 25-year-old Sioux Falls motorist was involved in a rather unusual crash on Saturday, February 21, when their vehicle struck an overhead garage door at a Walmart in town. The incident reportedly happened around 3:00 PM on the back side of the store, where the driver’s 2008 Ford Expedition somehow collided with the large overhead door.

Hello Pruedental! That's a tough phone call to make.

Now, bumping into a shopping cart? Happens. Clipping a curb? Sure. But accidentally rearranging a Walmart garage door? That’s the kind of story your friends probably won't let you live down.

Fortunately, the driver escaped with only minor, non-life-threatening injuries. There’s no official word yet on the condition of the Expedition or the total cost of damage, though, judging by reports and photos from the scene, the garage door has definitely seen better days, and might be considering early retirement.

Authorities are still investigating exactly what led to the crash, and until more details are released, the cause remains a mystery. Hopefully, it doesn't end up being some type of medical emergency, and instead was just a simple miscalculation, a momentary distraction, or just one of those “wrong place, wrong time” situations. However, it does serve as a good reminder to stay alert behind the wheel.
