Sioux Falls Police Captain Loren McManus says a road rage incident turned violent on Saturday.

"There were two vehicles over at 37th and Minnesota. The victim's vehicle saw the other vehicle and thought they were somebody they recognized. As they pulled up next to the vehicle, they realized it wasn't who they thought it was."

"There were some words that were exchanged. At one point, the victim's vehicle thought they had seen the other vehicle driver display a handgun. They slowed down and got a license plate number. They then called 911," continued McManus. "About 18th and Center the suspect's vehicle pulls over and stopped. The victim's vehicle stayed behind a ways waiting for the cops to get there. The suspect got out of his vehicle and walked toward the victim's vehicle, raised his hand holding a handgun and fired one shot into the vehicle."

McManus, who says no one was injured, identifies the suspect as 28-year-old Sherman Woods of Minneapolis. He faces a number of charges including aggravated assault and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.
