The Habitat For Humanity Homeowner Application Drive is officially accepting applicants for 2020.

This year's application window is currently open until Friday, July 31st at 5:00 pm.

The simplest way to describe what the Homeowner Application Drive is that it is a hand up, not a handout. Applicants who are selected to partner with Habitat complete 300 hours of sweat equity, which includes homeowner education and physical construction work on their home or other Habitat homes.

Homebuyer partners can then purchase their homes that Habitat helps to finance through affordable mortgage loans. The mortgage income Habitat receives each month in turn helps build future homes.

To qualify for the homeownership program, applicants must have a need, the ability to pay, and a willingness to partner.  In order to be eligible, the individual(s) must meet the 2020 income guidelines which are displayed below AND these requirements.

Though some people may think that Habitat for Humanity homes are given out for free or with little to no money or equity upfront,  this isn't the case. Habitat chooses local individuals to receive a home that matches all qualifications. Habit for Humanity homeowners rightfully earns the home through affordable financing and hundreds of hours of sweat equity.

Habitat for Humanity is also local and helps those in the greater Sioux Falls area who are in need of homes with local funding and volunteers who live in the area.
