The America's Farmers program is encouraging South Dakota farmers to nominate their local, rural public schools for the 2020 "Grow Rural Education" STEM grants.  These $15,000 grants will enhance students' learning experiences in science, math, technology, and engineering.

The nomination process is simple for farmers.  Farmers must visit the America's Farmers‘ website and click the "Grow Rural Education" tab to find the nomination form needed to nominate the school you support.  According to the America's Farmers' website, “school districts submit applications to compete for $15,000 grants to help fund projects that enhance their STEM curriculum. While these grants are helping to improve test scores today, better yet, they’re getting kids to think bigger about their tomorrows."

The 2020 Grow Rural Education initiative is once again partnered with the Bayer Fund, “a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the communities where Bayer customers and employees live and work by providing funding for food and nutrition, education and community development projects."  Since 2011, Grow Rural Education has provided more than $18 million to 1,000 schools nationwide.

Locally, South Dakota has received more than $505,000 to help students participate in STEM education programs in rural public schools.  Not only does STEM lead participants to successful careers in agriculture, but also other professions that require science and math.

Farmers can nominate a school of their choice from now until April 1st.  Click here to submit your nomination today!
