Nice people. Nice town! Nice event! Danish Days are on again!

If it weren't for the Great Northern Railroad, the sign above might still read "Welcome to Daneville, Home of Danish Days!" Daneville apparently was a thriving little village of Danish immigrants in the early 1870s. That is until people decided they wanted to live closer to a railroad line.

This is when Daneville disappeared and Viborg (named after an ancient city in Denmark) was born.

Originally celebrated on June 5, to coincide with Denmark's Independence Day, Danish Days were moved to the third week of July due to scheduling conflicts.

They really do have something planned for every age group for the week's events. Kids Fun day, golf, sand volleyball, and softball tournaments, an outdoor movie, chicken bingo, craft and vendor fair, a veteran's program, dances, and more!

Danish Days run through Sunday, June 21.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday they have a huge list of events to take in. Check out the entire schedule here!

Then load up your family and friends and head to Viborg, South Dakota for Danish Days!
