Making and keeping New Year's resolutions is a difficult task. Over the years, a lot of us have attempted to participate in this New Year's ritual only to fail miserably. Okay, by "a lot of us", I mean me.

So at this point in my life, I look to the new year and hope for the best. Do I do some planning? Yes. But now, I try to be more reasonable with my expectations.

Wallet Hub number crunchers have a theory that explains your success at keeping resolutions could depend on where you live. So they've put together their list of Best & Worst Cities for Keeping Your New Year's Resolutions.

What they were looking for were environments that encouraged self-improvement.

They compared 182 cities in 5 resolution categories: Financial, Health, School & Work, Bad Habits, and Relationships.

Within those categories, Wallet Hub examined things like access to exercise opportunities and healthy food stores, median annual incomes, credit scores and credit card debt, home ownership, quality of schools & universities, unemployment rates, job satisfaction, family-friendly and single-friendly entertainment options, and much, much more.

When all the numbers had been distilled down, it turned out that Sioux Falls isn't a bad place to keep your resolutions after all. Our city came in 45th out of 182.

The Top 5 Best Cities for Keeping Resolutions:

  1. Seattle, Washington
  2. San Francisco, California
  3. Scottsdale, Arizona
  4. Irvine, California
  5. San Diego, California

13 Times Sioux Falls Made it into a 'Jeopardy!' Question

If the world was divided into Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune people, I would be down for Jeopardy! all the way. It's a lot more fun, it makes me feel smart because I can retain lots of trivia, and I am a horrible speller. So Wheel is out, no whammies.

Recently I discovered (I mean wasted a lot of time on) a website that is an archive of clues that have been on Jeopardy!.

While digging around the archive, I wanted to find out how often Sioux Falls came up in a question (Answer) on the show. Since 1990 Sioux Falls has been part of a question or an answer 13 times.
