2 South Dakota Fishermen Busted Way Over The Limit!
Two men were busted on a South Dakota lake in possession of 62 Bluegills...which is way over the daily limit.
According to Dakota News Now, two individuals received citations after they were caught catching 62 bluegills, over twice the daily limit.
Conservation laws exist for a reason to protect our fish populations and ensure sustainable fishing for future generations. Unfortunately, not everyone gets the message.
TIPs (South Dakota Turn In Poachers) post on Facebook that on May 25th, 2025, Wildlife Conservation Officer Anna Sells received a valuable TIPs call from concerned citizens who witnessed two individuals catching excessive numbers of bluegills on Roy Lake.
When officers arrived at Roy Lake, they discovered the two anglers had caught a staggering 62 bluegills...more than double the legal daily limit.
For perspective, South Dakota's daily limit for bluegills is 15 per person, meaning these two fishermen should have stopped at 30 fish total.
Both individuals were cited and released at the scene, while all 62 fish were seized as evidence.
This case highlights the critical role that responsible citizens play in wildlife conservation.
Wildlife officials remind all anglers to familiarize themselves with current fishing regulations and daily limits.
These rules aren't suggestions. They're essential protections that ensure healthy fish populations for everyone to enjoy.
When you see violations occurring, don't hesitate to call the TIPs hotline and help protect South Dakota's natural resources.
