Yankton Teenager Wins 10K in South Dakota Safe Driving Contest
A South Dakota teenager is now $10,000 richer thanks to a safe driving campaign targeting young drivers.
Adam Lange, 16, of Yankton, participated in a contest involving the Lesson Learned SD web-based program being put on by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
The program, featuring South Dakota high school students, was centered around a series of video demonstrations that showed what can happen when people become distracted while driving, or don't follow safe driving practices.
Teenage drivers between the ages of 14-19 watched the videos, then answered a number of safety questions for a chance to win cash prizes. There were more than 2,200 eligible entries in the contest.
Lange's entry was chosen to win the $10,000 top prize.
The South Dakota Broadcasters Association sponsored the cash prizes.
