There are around 20 Costco stores in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota and the union representing Costco says a majority of workers have voted to strike for better wages and benefits.
Workers at Costco represented by the Teamsters have authorized a potential strike, with 85% voting in favor of strike action over what they describe as insufficient wages and benefits.

The union asserts that Costco has not adequately addressed its demands for compensation that matches its role in the company's substantial growth.
They point to Costco's strong financial performance, including $254 billion in annual revenue and $7.4 billion in net profits - representing a 135% profit increase since 2018.
The Teamsters' primary concerns center on securing fair wages and benefits, with union representatives stating that Costco has not engaged meaningfully in contract negotiations despite its record profitability.
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien stated: “Our members have spoken loud and clear: Costco must deliver a fair contract, or they’ll face the consequences. We’ve made it clear from the start our members will not work a single day past January 31 without an industry-leading agreement. Costco’s executives have less than two weeks to act. If they don’t, the responsibility for a strike falls squarely on their shoulders.”
A lack of agreement between Costco and its employees could mean a major work stoppage for the giant retailer.
