
Costco Issues Urgent Food Recall Due to Life-Threatening Allergen
Costco has issued a recall for a popular bakery item sold at select club stores between Jan. 16 and Jan. 30.
Costco Wholesale has issued an urgent recall for its popular Mini Beignets filled with Caramel (Item #1181272) due to a serious packaging error that poses a potentially life-threatening risk to customers with tree nut allergies.

What Happened
The affected product was inadvertently packaged with Mini Beignets filled with Chocolate Hazelnut instead of the labeled caramel filling. This mislabeling means the product contains undeclared hazelnuts (filberts), which are not listed on the packaging.
Who Is Affected
Customers with hazelnut or filbert allergies who purchased this product between January 16-30, 2026, should take immediate action. The recalled items were distributed across 22 states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.
Health Risk
For individuals with tree nut allergies, consuming this product could trigger a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction. Even trace amounts of hazelnuts can cause anaphylaxis in highly sensitive individuals.
What You Should Do
- Do not consume this product if you have a hazelnut or tree nut allergy
- Return the item to any Costco location for a full refund
