There is some controversy about whether the Christmas Tree tradition is mentioned in the bible. Some folks sight Jeremiah 10 which says the following: "Thus says the LORD: Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the Gentiles are dismayed at them. For the customs of the peoples are futile; for one cuts a tree from the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it with nails and hammers so that it will not topple.”

Likewise, folks differ on when to take the Christmas Tree down. According to Good Housekeeping, you shouldn't take your Christmas tree down until the eve of the Epiphany. The Epiphany marks the day the Wise Men visited baby Jesus. Tradition dictates that the Twelfth Night is the best time to take down your festive decorations including your tree.

It's believed that waiting too long after the Twelfth Night will bring bad luck. Epiphany, or the 12th day of Christmas, falls on January 6 and marks the official end to the festive season for many Christians. The six Sundays which follow Epiphany are known as the time of manifestation.

The Twelfth Night (Epiphany) also marks a visit to the baby Jesus by three Kings or Wise Men.
