Sioux Falls Road Construction Updates: Kiwanis and Western Avenues

Sioux Falls motorists should be aware of lane closures on Kiwanis Avenue and South Western Avenue as crews complete infrastructure and utility work.

Kiwanis Avenue Lane Closure

Beginning Wednesday, September 9, the outside southbound lane of Kiwanis Avenue at 9th Street will be closed while crews complete storm drainage and concrete surface repairs.

Traffic will remain open in the inside southbound lane throughout the project.

The work is expected to take approximately one to two weeks, weather permitting.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use caution and pay attention to traffic control devices when traveling through the work zone. Motorists may also want to consider alternate routes to help avoid delays.

Western Avenue Lane Closure

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, September 10, the outside northbound lane of South Western Avenue will be closed for approximately 300 feet between 69th Street and La Quinta Street.

The closure is needed while Xcel Energy replaces a power pole.

The project is expected to be completed, with traffic control removed, by the end of the day Friday, September 11.

Drivers traveling through the area should reduce their speed, remain alert for workers and equipment, and follow posted traffic directions.

Using an alternate route may help motorists avoid delays during the work.
