March Madness! Roller Coaster of Temps to Close Out March in South Dakota
This year in South Dakota, the month of March may have come in like a lion.
Okay, to be fair, it was more like an elderly lion, rather docile and not all that vicious, but I think we can all agree it's definitely going out like a lamb.
And in typical South Dakota fashion, it will be like a lamb strung out on crack!
Have you seen the forecast for the next few days? Talk about psychotic!
It's predicted to be sunny and 67 degrees in Sioux Falls on Thursday, March 27th, 84 and sunny on Friday, March 28th, rainy and 41 on Saturday, March 29th, and snow and 40 on Sunday, March 30th! Oh, did I mention it's going to be windy again?
Shocking, I know!

Talk about March Madness! If this rollercoaster of temperatures doesn't perfectly illustrate the erratic weather we get treated to almost every year during March in South Dakota, I don't know what does!
Typically, March has the reputation for being the snowiest month of the year in South Dakota. However, that's not the case this year. But, we're more than making up for it in the schizo temperature department.
March Weather In South Dakota: A Rollercoaster Of Temperature Changes
Think about this: here in Sioux Falls, we can literally be sunbathing on Friday and snow-blowing by Sunday. Talk about nuttier than squirrel turds.
Should we make it to 84 degrees on Friday, that would be a new record high for Sioux Falls on that date. Surpassing the old record high temperature of 80 degrees set back on March 28th, 1946.
According to the National Weather Service, the normal high temperatures for March in South Dakota are usually in the upper 40s.
The First Alert forecast from Dakota News Now says we can look forward to even more chances for light rain and snow early next week as we transition into April. Our highs should be a little more normal-looking in the upper 40s to low 50s to kick off the month.
