South Dakota Winter Storm Could Bring Heavy Snow
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 12 noon Tuesday until 12 noon Wednesday for much of the tri-state area.
Snowfall amounts could include 12 inches around Sioux Falls, Mitchell, & Worthington and 18 inches around the Yankton / Vermillion area.
This Warning is for Severe Winter Weather Conditions caused by Heavy Snow and Blowing Snow. Northerly winds could gust above 30 mph.
Snow around Sioux Falls will be picking up in intensity around 3pm Tuesday afternoon which will make for a tricky drive home after work today.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls states:
TIMING...SNOW WILL DEVELOP IN THE LATE MORNING TO EARLY
AFTERNOON...QUICKLY BECOMING MODERATE TO HEAVY. PERIODS OF HEAVY
SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH SNOW
ENDING WEDNESDAY MORNING. AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW WILL DEVELOP
THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.
