But, if you've chosen to live in Sioux Falls, that is good news, as it was recently chosen as the 4th happiest city in the country. It was also chosen as the 5th best place to retire in the U.S.

However, did you know that in the latest WalletHub study, South Dakota ranked 13th among the Happiest States in America?

Wallet Hub's study rated all the states in three major categories:

  1. Emotional & Physical Well-being
  2. Work environment
  3. Community & Environment

The reasons why are very similar to those as to why people are happy living in Sioux Falls.

  • Purpose-driven living - people enjoy what they do daily
  • Strong social relationships
  • Good physical health and accessible healthcare
  • The cost of living is significantly lower than in other states
  • Good educational opportunities
  • Natural beauty - our state has a lot of it, and that contributes to good physical as well as mental health

All in all, what this latest study indicates is that South Dakotans are happy where they are, doing what they love, around their favorite people.
