We love our fireworks in South Dakota!

In 2024, 17 million dollars worth of fireworks were sold in South Dakota, with Minnehaha and Lincoln counties coming in first and second for sales.

But there is a downside to having all those fireworks. According to a study reported by Dakota News Now, South Dakota ranked first in fireworks-related injuries from June through August of 2023. Also, in that same year, South Dakota ranked 4th in the amount of money spent on fireworks per capita.
