Tis the season for road construction, and in case you haven't noticed already, the city of Sioux Falls is like one great big orange cone at the moment.

The city has several major road construction projects underway right now, and a few more just got added to the list as of Tuesday, (May 28).

The outside eastbound lane of East 57th Street is now closed between Bahnson Avenue and Graystone Avenue. According to Dakota News Now, crews are working on improvements to the 57th and Graystone intersection. In addition, the south side sidewalk of 57th Street between Bahnson and Sycamore Avenue will be closed with pedestrian traffic detoured to the north side sidewalk.

If Mother Nature decides to cooperate, that work is expected to be wrapped up by Friday, (June 28).

If you plan to travel West 10th Street anytime soon, be prepared to encounter a number of orange barrels on that commute. Dakota News Now is reporting, that West 10th Street will be closed between West Avenue and Euclid Avenue for the first phase of a multiple-phase street construction project. Drivers are advised to use 9th Street, 11th Street, or 12th Street as alternate routes while the project is underway.

The first phase should be completed by mid-August, with the entire project wrapped up by November.

And finally, there's another construction project on Minnesota Avenue launching on Tuesday, (May 28).  This one affects the outside northbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue. It will be closed between 26th Street and 33rd Street for crews to complete sidewalk improvements. Dakota News Now reports this new project is the first of four phases of a construction project that includes both sides of Minnesota Avenue between 18th Street to 33rd Street. All four phases of the latest Minnesota Avenue project should be finished by August weather permitting.

There are also several other ongoing road construction projects underway throughout Sioux Falls, in places like West 57th Street, Minnesota Avenue near the South Veterans Parkway, Western Avenue and 95th Street, and of course, the Diverging Diamond Project that has turned West 41st Street near the I-29 intersection into a maze for several months.
