Gunfire Breaks Out at Sioux Falls C-Store Early Wednesday Morning
A flurry of activity in central Sioux Falls early Wednesday morning, as police officers were involved in a shooting incident with a suspect inside a convenience store on South Minnesota Avenue.
Dakota News Now reports that the incident took place around 3:00 AM on Wednesday, (July 3) at a Get-n-Go location on the 600 block of South Minnesota Avenue.
Lieutenant Nick Butler with the Sioux Falls Police Department told Dakota News Now, that officers on the scene “took gunfire from inside the business and ultimately were involved in a shooting with the suspect.”
Around 3:38 AM witnesses on the scene reported hearing loud noises, which could have been the sound of gunshots. A short time later 14th Street from Dakota Avenue to Minnesota Avenue was briefly closed as a result of the police activity.
According to Dakota News Now, the front door of the Get-n-Go store has a pane of broken glass, which allegedly could be the result of gunfire.
Authorities taped off the scene while the investigation was underway, and officers could be seen photographing the area. There was also a rifle with a scope on it outside the front door of the convenience store and several emergency vehicles on location.
Dakota News Now was told that additional details regarding the incident will be made available to the public during a police briefing scheduled for 10:30 this morning.
