
Sioux Falls Police Looking For Gas Station Shooting Suspect
Public Safety Alert: Due to the violent nature of this crime and the fact that the suspect remains at large, police warn there may be ongoing danger to the Sioux Falls community.
Sioux Falls Police are actively searching for a gunman involved in a shooting that left one person critically injured early Tuesday morning.
The incident unfolded around 1:00 AM at a gas station in the 1600 block of South Minnesota Ave.
According to Sioux Falls Public Information Officer Sam Clemens, two men were in the parking lot when an unknown suspect approached them.
What began as a verbal dispute in the parking lot continued inside the convenience store, where tensions escalated dramatically.
Inside the gas station, the argument intensified and the suspect drew a firearm, shooting one of the men in the back.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a white truck, which was later discovered abandoned in the 800 block of North Cleveland Avenue.
Investigators are still determining whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
Police believe the victims and suspect were strangers prior to this encounter.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to identify and locate the gunman.
