
Multiple Guns Stolen From One Unlocked Sioux Falls Vehicle.
Sioux Falls police make arrests after a significant theft of multiple long guns and handguns from one unlocked vehicle.
According to Sioux Falls Public Information Officer Sergeant Aaron Benson, the theft occurred overnight on February 6, 2026, near West Snapdragon Street and South Statice Avenue in the southwest part of the city.

The Incident
Five firearms, two rifles and three handguns, were stolen from an unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours. The victim reported the theft just before noon on Friday.
Swift Police Response
Officers and detectives immediately canvassed the neighborhood, searching for video footage and evidence.
Surveillance video revealed three individuals entering vehicles in the area during the timeframe of the theft.
Arrests and Recoveries
By Monday evening, investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit located two suspects in a vehicle near 41st Street and Western Avenue.
During the arrest, one stolen handgun was found in a juvenile male's sweatshirt, and another was discovered during a vehicle search.
The adult suspect, 18-year-old Dayvon Keshawn Benson of Sioux Falls, faces charges of two counts of grand theft and criminal entry of a motor vehicle.
Search warrants executed at both suspects' residences led to the recovery of two additional stolen firearms.
Outstanding Items
One firearm remains missing, and police are still seeking a third suspect.
