A brazen robbery at a Sioux Falls convenience store turned violent Saturday night when three masked suspects shot a man who pursued them after they stole alcohol.

The incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. on January 31st at the Food-N-Fuel located at 9th and Kiwanis.

According to Sioux Falls Police Sergeant Jake Harris, three individuals believed to be between 15 and 20 years old entered the store wearing face coverings, grabbed bottles of alcohol, and fled on foot.

An acquaintance of the business owners chased after the suspects.

During the pursuit, one of the fleeing individuals pulled out a gun and fired, striking the victim in the ankle.

He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been treated.

The suspects escaped eastbound on 9th Street with one bottle of booze.

Police are urging community members who live or work in the area to review any security camera or Ring doorbell footage from that evening.

The suspects remain unidentified and at large.
