Sioux Falls Police Arrest Man Who Approached Teen with Axe
Sioux Falls police have arrested a man connected with threatening a teenager with an axe on Monday.
KSFY TV is reporting that 26-year-old Jamey Roger Gayken is now in custody.
Gayken was kicked out of his home in the 900 block of North Walts Avenue on Monday (November 18). He allegedly returned to the home later that evening around 10:30, this time carrying a battle-axe.
According to KSFY, Gayken was attempting to find the person responsible for kicking him out. Instead, he ended up approaching a 16-year-old boy who also lived inside the home. The teenager felt threatened by Gayken, and notified authorities to report the incident.
The call led to the eventual arrest of Gayken.
The police report states that Gayken did not swing the ax at the teenager during the incident. However, he was charged with aggravated assault and is currently being held in the Minnehaha County Jail.
KSFY reports the suspect had several outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.
