UPDATE: Missing 14-Year-Old Sioux Falls Girl Found Dead

The Sioux Falls Police Department is reporting that the missing 14-year-old girl, McKenna Wendel, has been found dead.

In a statement, the SDPD said they and partner organizations will continue to work to find out what happened to Wendel.

"We are not seeking assistance in locating anyone related to this case, nor do we believe the public is in any danger. No additional information will be shared this week regarding this case," SDPD said.

"The Sioux Falls Police Department would like to thank the public for their help in our investigation into the whereabouts of McKenna Wendel. It’s with great sadness that we report McKenna has been found, deceased.  The Sioux Falls Police Department, along with many other resources from the region, will continue to piece together what happened to McKenna.  We are not seeking assistance in locating anyone related to this case, nor do we believe the public is in any danger.  No additional information will be shared this week regarding this case.  We will bring you an update on Monday at our regular media briefing."

Sioux Falls Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 14-year-old girl, McKenna Wendel.

McKenna Wendel is described as a Native American female, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 98 pounds.

She has dark brown hair with a distinctive teal streak on one side, along with brown eyes.

Authorities say she has been missing since Friday, March 13, 2026, and concern is growing as efforts to locate her continue.

At this time, officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, but they are urging the community to remain alert and report any possible sightings or information that could help bring her home safely.
