There was yet another officer-involved shooting in Sioux Falls late Monday afternoon.

Details are somewhat limited at this time; however, Dakota News Now is reporting that Sioux Falls police were attempting to issue an arrest warrant on Monday, July 7, to an individual in the area of West 10th and South Garfield Avenue when the incident occurred.

Sioux Falls Police Assistant Chief Nick Cook told Dakota News Now, “During the course of contacting the subject, a firearm was produced. Several officers fired at the subject, and he was injured in the incident. The subject was transported to a local hospital, where he is undergoing treatment."

Monday's incident, like every other officer-involved shooting, will be investigated by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigations.

According to Dakota News Now, the incident happened Monday afternoon, around 5:42 PM. The name of the suspect is not available at this time, but we do know the suspect involved was wanted for questioning regarding an aggravated assault incident that happened on Sunday, July 6, where the victim in that case received a gunshot wound to the head.

Monday's shooting marks the 5th officer-involved shooting in Sioux Falls since the start of 2025. The other shootings occurred during April and May, with the most recent shooting taking place on Thursday, June 26.
