Forget Batman—Sioux Falls Has A Real-Life Superhero Of Its Own
Not every city can say it has its very own superhero.
Sioux Falls can.
And while you won't see the Sioux Falls superhero flying over Falls Park, swinging from the Arc of Dreams, or showing up in the middle of the night because his call-to-action signal is shining over the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, the Sioux Falls superhero is out there doing something every bit as important: helping people.

Meet Savior, the leader of the Heroic Society of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
According to Dakota News Now, Savior's mission is to contribute to the safety and well-being of the Sioux Falls community.
While it's true that Savior wears a mask and superhero-style gear, there is one important distinction between him and your favorite comic-book crime fighter: he's not a vigilante.
You know the type. The Charlie Bronson type vigilante that takes matters into their own hands, sometimes breaking the law while trying to do what they believe is right.
That's not Savior's style.
Instead, he focuses on legal, community-minded efforts, including neighborhood patrols, community events, picking up litter, and helping people who may need supplies or everyday essentials.
In other words, you don't need super strength, X-ray vision, or the ability to run faster than a speeding bullet to be a hero in Sioux Falls.
Sometimes being a hero simply means noticing that someone needs help, and then actually answering the call to do something about it.
Savior also knows when to call in the professionals.
When there's a big emergency, or someone is in immediate danger, he says people should always call 911 first. The Sioux Falls Police Department has the crime-fighting part covered by its own real-life heroes, the men and women who wear the uniform and are trained to protect and serve the citizens of the Sioux Empire every single day.

Savior encourages other Sioux Falls residents to look for their own opportunities to help. You don't need a cape. You don't need armor. You don't even need a superhero name. All that's required is a little compassion and the willingness to help others in need.
As Savior told Dakota News Now, “This is my home, and I’m going to do everything I can to protect it and help out.”
