Sioux Falls is one of the fastest-growing cities in the upper Midwest. As a result, the city is now having to deal with a number of issues that come along with cities with larger population bases, one such issue being a rise in crime.

That was on full display early Thursday morning when a Sioux Falls man attempting to go to work was held at gunpoint outside his home while his vehicle was stolen.

Dakota News Now is reporting the incident took place shortly after 6:00 AM on Thursday (October 5) on the 5800 block of West Christopher Place.

The police report states the incident occurred just outside of the victim's home around 6:13 that morning. The man was walking to his vehicle when he noticed a white truck with blue or green lettering on it driving through the parking lot of his apartment complex.

According to Dakota News Now, as the victim attempted to get inside his own car, the driver of the white pickup truck got out of his vehicle, made his way over to the victim, pointed a gun at his head, and demanded that the victim surrender the keys to his vehicle. Once he did, the victim was fortunate enough to make it back to his apartment to call authorities.

Dakota News Now reports the victim was able to tell police that he also observed a passenger inside the white pickup truck, that ended up driving off in the truck after the initial suspect made off with the victim's vehicle.

The white pickup involved in the incident is believed to be an F-150 truck that has been reported to be stolen as well.

This week's incident serves as another excellent reminder to every resident to always be cognizant of their surroundings because you never know what can happen.

No arrests have been yet as police continue to search for both suspects involved.
