Sioux Falls Band To Shine On National Stage During Macy’s Day Parade
If you love a parade, you'll have a great reason to love this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, especially if you're from Sioux Falls.
A local Sioux Falls High School marching band has been chosen to perform during this year's festive holiday parade on Thursday.
The marching band from Sioux Falls Lincoln will be representing the Sioux Empire and the state of South Dakota during the 2024 Macy's Day Parade.
Dakota News Now reports that the band from Sioux Falls Lincoln was very honored to get the nod to be part of this holiday tradition, and has been working extremely hard to prepare since finding out that they were chosen.
Dan Carlson, Lincoln High School band director told Dakota News Now, "Whether it’s our very first football game of the year or the Thanksgiving Day parade we always want to put forth our best possible product.”
An estimated 55 million people are expected to tune in and watch this year's parade, so needless to say, the experience can be somewhat nerve-racking for those participating.
Being asked to play in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade also opened a door for several Lincoln High students who had never been to New York City.
In addition to their Macy's Day Parade performance, band members will also get an opportunity to sneak in a trip to see Ground Zero, a Broadway musical, the Rockettes, and much more.
The Lincoln High marching band begins their trek to the Big Apple on Sunday, (November 24).
If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of the band in blue, the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade begins Thursday at 7:30 central on NBC.
Good luck, and have fun Sioux Falls Lincoln, I know you'll do the Sioux Empire proud!
