When we started the Sioux Falls Dive Bar Tour, we had a few bars in mind. We knew we had to check out the Top Hat, the Log Cabin, and the Silver Moon, just to name a few. Those are all pretty high on the list of the definition of dive bar. But then, we walked into the Bar Code Bar and Grill on North Cliff Avenue.

Even though the cement block walls remind you of an unfinished basement, it has come a long way since it was Wild Willie's Bar. The new owners gutted the old bar and added a little class to the place. They have a good selection of beers and wine-based drinks, dart boards, a pool table, TVs and surprisingly, a decent sized menu. They even have some really good happy hour specials and serve cheap, good weekday lunches.

The bar hosts dart and pool leagues and is a popular place to sing karaoke.

The Bar Code at 4200 North Cliff Avenue is pretty high on the list of diviest dive bars we've been to, but don't let the facade keep you away. We were pleasantly surprised with the inexpensive drinks and friendly service.
