As one person within the organization told me this week, Sam Bradford "is and should be our starting QB for years to come".

The Minnesota Vikings are currently assessing all options right now as the future of Teddy Bridgewater is up in the air.

Reports surfaced this week that it appears Bridgewater is done for 2017 as well after missing all of 2016 with a torn up knee.

These reports confirm what I was told back in October when a person with knowledge of the situation told me that it looked very tough to invision Bridewater returning in 2017 or potentially ever to the league.

So the question becomes, should the Vikings draft a QB in this years draft?

The answer is very simple in my mind... No.

First of all, you have a franchise QB in Sam Bradford under team control in 2017 and if I were the GM, I'd lock down the former #1 overall pick long term.

Secondly, you look at the back up position and what the Vikings need to do is sign a good vet to fill that role and save the pick.

Now I say don't draft a QB under the premis that you would be doing so in the first few rounds of the NFL Draft.  However, if it was a sixth or a seventh round pick, then I would be open to the idea, knowing you'd be hitting lighting in a bottle on the most important position in football with a pick that could easily be wasted elsewhere.

All that said, the desire for some fans to move on from Bradford after a tremendous season of accuracy and leadership would be dumb and not in the best interest of this team moving forward.

As one person within the organization told me this week, Sam Bradford "is and should be our starting QB for years to come".

Improve the offensive line, add some depth in the secondary and try and find a legitimate #1 wide reciever in the first few rounds, but don't panic and draft a QB early.

In Sam Bradford I trust.
