Tomar Park Entrance Closure

Starting today, July 1, 2025, the west entrance and west parking lot of Tomar Park will be temporarily closed for parking lot improvements.

This closure represents the final phase of a comprehensive upgrade project that has been transforming the park's infrastructure.

While the west side remains inaccessible, visitors can still access Tomar Park through the east entrance and east parking lot.

The recreation trail entrance will also remain open during construction. All closed areas are expected to reopen simultaneously once improvements are complete.

City officials anticipate the parking lot project will wrap up by mid-August 2025, giving residents improved access to one of Sioux Falls' popular recreational destinations.

The outside southbound lane will be closed to accommodate sidewalk improvement work.

This closure marks the seventh phase of an eight-part project that includes sidewalk enhancements along 41st Street from Western Avenue to Westport Avenue, plus Minnesota Avenue improvements from 11th to 18th Streets.

The comprehensive sidewalk project is scheduled for completion in August 2025.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to exercise caution, reduce speeds near construction zones, and consider alternative routes when possible to minimize delays and ensure worker safety.
