Luverne may be a small town in southwest Minnesota, but it has a lot going on. It was chosen by the Niche website as one of the best places to live in Minnesota; it's only 36 miles from Sioux Falls, and this weekend it is home to the 41st Annual Buffalo Days celebration.

When does the Buffalo Days celebration begin?

Truthfully, the kickoff to Buffalo Days is Thursday, June 5, with the Tour De Loop Family Bike Ride from 4 to 7:30 PM, and root beer floats from 6 to 8 PM. There will be a bike giveaway at 8 PM, and you must be present to win.

Friday, June 6, the Annual Luverne Baseball Tournament is going on, there is a pie and ice cream social at the United Methodist Church, and the big block party is going on from 6 to 9 PM at Take 16 Brewing Company.

Another big event is the Friday Night Cruise-In on Main Street in Luverne. It's free and open to the public from 5:30 to 10:30 PM. All collectible vehicles are welcome, and there is free vehicle registration. The beer garden is open from 6 to 10:30 PM with food, drinks, and music from Starfire.

What else is there to know about this big festival?

Saturday is another full day of fun with the Buffalo Days Run for a Cause 5K and 1 mile Family Fun Run starting at 8 AM (registration starts at 7 AM). The Big Buffalo Days parade is at 10 AM on Main Street. The big Expo is in Courtyard Square from 9 AM to 4 PM, with live music, arts, crafts, gifts, a petting zoo, and so much more!

There is also a quilt show on Saturday at the Hinkly House, and the Block Party at Take 16 Brewing Company is going on all day.

The First Annual Woofstock is part of Buffalo Days on Sunday from 3:30 to 7 PM in Luverne City Park. There will be vendors, music, micro-chipping, food booths, blessing of the dogs and even a doggie parade.
